How many bars should a pressure washer have?
Since pressure washers are made to remove any kind of dirt with pure water pressure, the cleaners have some reserves. With professional equipment, up to 1000 bars can be used. In the private sector, for homes and gardens, however, high-pressure cleaners usually only deliver between 80 and 200 bar. For garden tools, this pressure is absolutely sufficient, since you do not want to cut stone slabs with the water jet, but only want to clean them.
How does a pressure washer work?
The most important component of a high-pressure cleaner is the pumping system, which is driven by an electric motor. The pump of the high-pressure cleaner compresses the supplied water and presses it into the so-called injector. At this point, if necessary, detergent is added before it flows to the jet pipe of the high-pressure cleaner. Often the introduced water is used at the same time to cool the engine. With a good ratio of water and working pressure, the higher the water pressure of a high-pressure cleaner, the less water is needed. Compared to the water pressure of 4 bar from a garden hose, you need less than a fifth of the amount for an average high-pressure cleaner.
What can be cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner?
In general, you can use a pressure washer for any form of cleaning work on the house. Since the cleaning effect of the water jet can often dispense with cleaning agents in the high-pressure cleaner, these devices are considered particularly environmentally friendly. Cars or bicycles can also be cleaned in this way. However, you should be much more careful with painted surfaces than is necessary for bricks, for example. High-pressure cleaners are also excellent for removing weeds, such as moss.
