Anyone interested in purchasing a car already knows that it is natural for them to devalue over time.

Therefore, it is important to understand which cars are the least devalued in the market and think about your needs and expectations.

This does not mean that it is not advisable to choose the car you prefer, even if it is not in this condition.

Here are the cars that depreciate the least and what to consider when choosing:

Still without insurance for your car?

5 cars that depreciate the least on the market

It is always good to consult the FIPE table to understand the average price of vehicles.

Among the observations of appreciation versus depreciation, based on 2020, we can highlight:

Chevrolet Onix

Among one the main cars that less depreciate is the Onix, with great cost-benefit. Its resale is very good, as the demand is high.

Recently, instead of depreciating, the model had an appreciation of 1.84%. This is very positive and its maintenance is usually not expensive either.

Volkswagen Fox

Volkswagen’s Fox is another car that suffers little devaluation, which was around 0.54% in the last year.

Among its advantages is fuel economy, with performance reaching up to 16 km per liter on the road.

Volkswagen T-Cross

The T-Cross is available in three versions, but, generally, among the cars that cost up to R$100,000, it is one of the least depreciated.

The loss was just 0.66% recently. Among the advantages, consumers highlight comfort, steering, and suspension.

JAC T50

The JAC T50 is from a Chinese automaker and has good market acceptance, although its sales are lower than other vehicles.

Depreciation was 1.08% in 1 year, offering a good cost-benefit ratio to those who choose the model.

Volkswagen Polo

Volkswagen Polo had a devaluation of only 1.63% in the last year, which makes it one of the models that pay the most.

The suspension is known to be very soft. In addition, this characteristic fits the needs of the streets in Brazil. Demand is good and that is why Polo is among the cars that depreciate the least.

The insurance value of the least devalued cars

On the other hand, due to certain specific characteristics of each one, there are cars that depreciate more.

Analyzing the pros and cons, especially looking at the differences between new and used, is essential.

If you choose one of the cars that depreciate the least, there may be a greater advantage later when reselling.

Another very important factor is knowing the price of insurance. In general, cars with higher values, especially new ones, may have more expensive insurance with schedule 1 tax.

However, everything needs to be analyzed calmly. A newer car may also have more affordable coverage. That’s because it usually has a lower risk of breaking.

To provide an overview of the price of insurance for cars that depreciate less, we performed a value simulation for each of the models considering the profile of a 35-year-old married man residing in downtown São Paulo.

 * Please note that the values shown in the table are the result of a simulation with a specific profile previously defined. To know the exact value of your profile, it is necessary to carry out an insurance quote.

Care such as cleaning, up-to-date maintenance, and car history help to fight depreciation a little. These are relevant factors even if you are looking to sell yours or exchange for another one. In addition, they can also impact devaluation, as we will discuss below.

How does a car depreciation work?

In general, every car starts to depreciate as it leaves the factory or dealership. In up to 2 years this devaluation is usually greater (up to 20% of the value), decreasing later.

There are certain vehicles that after 1 year already depreciate with more notoriety, despite the short time. So it all depends on the model and even on aspects that impact the valuation, as the conditions in which the car is also matter.

The devaluation, after the initial, higher percentage, can follow an average of 5% per year, or even less.

Therefore, a vehicle that cost BRL 40,000.00 may have a depreciation of approximately BRL 8,000.00 in the first few years, becoming worth BRL 32,000.00 (remembering that, sometimes, from the seller to buyer, this value can be different ).

In other years, this value may drop by around R$ 2,000.00 per year or less. The better history, better conservation, and lower mileage, the lower this depreciation can be.

Would you like to understand better what is considered and a little more about the cars that depreciate the least? Are you thinking about buying yours and want to know the value of insurance? Start quoting now!
